The big, fat, Indian wedding: Sangita Jindal's nephew Akshay Kanoria ties the knot with Shreya Seksaria

Kishore Biyani turned quizmaster when his niece Shreya Seksaria married Akshay Kanoria, the son of packaging tycoon Saket Kanoria, in Mumbai over the Holi week.

Biyani played ‘Koffee with KB’ with senior family members on the rooftop of a landmark Mumbai hotel, in one of the many celebratory events for the wedding. Also on the lineup was a standup comedy act.

Later in the week, Sangita Jindal, Akshay’s aunt, hosted a party at an old engineering factory in Bycul la that is now a popular venue for gigs.

The festivities — including the sangeet and the wedding reception — moved to a South Mumbai hotel for the next few days. Nearly 100 rooms were booked for guests. Several prominent members of the two families participated in musical acts on stage. Steel mogul Sajjan Jindal sang a version of ‘Mai pal do pal ka shayar hoon’ that was slightly rewritten for the new couple.

BK Modi, KK Modi, Neerja Birla, Mala Goenka, Juhi Chawla and their families were among the guests at the wedding.

Akshay is a Wharton graduate and works with his father. Shreya, who studied at the University of the Arts in London, works in an architecture and interior design firm.
