The '18' connect: When Yuzvendra Chahal & Smriti Mandhana spoke about need for discipline on the field
Mandhana attributed her success to keeping her eyes on the ball, and her feet on the ground.

Not long ago, BCCI roped in the spinner to host a chat show, eponymously titled Chahal TV. In the short videos posted on the BCCI website, Chahal gets cricketing personalities to share light-hearted asides on recently-concluded matches. Mumbai-born Smriti Mandhana who won the ICC women’s cricketer of the year 2018 was once in the hot seat. The opening batsman was enjoying a rich vein of form, and Chahal was quick to draw parallels with Virat Kohli.
The two share a common shirt number, 18, but Mandhana insists it is coincidental. Mandhana attributed her success to keeping her eyes on the ball, and her feet on the ground.
“Bowlers also have to stay disciplined. Our eyes may not always be on the ball, but that doesn’t mean we are looking at the crowd during our run-ups,” Chahal quipped. While a career in broadcasting might yet be far away, Mandhana said she remains convinced of her host’s ability to spin a good narrative on screen.
