Thamma OTT Release Details
For fans who prefer watching films at home, Thamma will be available exclusively on Amazon Prime Video. As per reports cited by DNA India, following an eight-week window in cinemas, the movie will be offered for rent under the Early Access section starting December 2, 2025. It will then officially premiere for streaming on Prime Video from December 16, 2025. This quick transition from theatres to OTT reflects the growing trend of providing early streaming access for major Bollywood releases. Thamma opened during the festive Diwali weekend and collected Rs 25.11 crore on its first day, making it the second-highest opener in the MHCU after Stree 2. The opening also marked the highest day-one collection of Ayushmann Khurrana’s career, surpassing his 2019 hit Dream Girl 2, which had earned Rs 10.69 crore. Produced by Maddock Films and directed by Aditya Sarpotdar, the movie blends supernatural elements with romance and comedy, staying true to the signature style of the MHCU franchise.
Plot and Cast
The film follows the story of Alok Goyal (Ayushmann Khurrana), a timid journalist who falls in love with Tadaka (Rashmika Mandanna), a vampire belonging to the Betal sect. Their romance faces obstacles in the form of Yakshasan (Nawazuddin Siddiqui), the Thamma, or leader, of the Betal clan. As Alok navigates this hidden world of supernatural beings, he transforms and grows into someone capable of challenging the tyrannical Yakshasan. The movie interweaves elements from previous MHCU films, including cameo appearances from Nora Fatehi (Stree), Sathyaraj (Munjya), Varun Dhawan (Bhediya), and Abhishek Banerjee (Stree 2), making it a larger-than-life supernatural crossover.Apart from the leads, Thamma features Paresh Rawal, Geeta Agarwal Sharma, Faisal Malik, and Rachit Singh in key supporting roles. The combination of returning characters from earlier MHCU films and fresh faces strengthens the interconnected universe and sets the stage for future installments, including the anticipated Bhediya versus Thamma storyline.
