If all goes well, ‘GOAT’ (short for ‘Greatest Of All Time’) could become the highest-grossing film in the Tamil film industry. The much-anticipated Thalapathy Vijay-starrer is predicted to set the cash registers ringing if reports are to be believed. As per a Cinetrak report, GOAT has already earned over $1 million in pre-sales for its opening day across international markets.

A significant portion of this revenue comes from North America, where the film has generated around $460,000 from the USA and Canada alone.

Anticipation is high, and the film is expected to cross the $1 million mark in the USA even before its official release. Vijay's movie is also performing strongly in the UK and Australia, with each region contributing $130,000 to the overall pre-sales.

Additionally, the UAE, Singapore, and Malaysia have been key in pushing the film past the $1 million milestone for its opening day. This action-packed blockbuster is poised to shatter multiple box office records on September 5.

‘GOAT’ Was Initially Slated To Have A Different Name?

In an interview with 123 Telugu.com, ‘GOAT’s director Venkat Prabhu revealed that the movie initially was supposed to be titled ‘Gandhi’ as Mahatma Gandhi is arguably one of the greatest figures in Indian history. “The film is like a farewell to Vijay sir. So I wanted it to be titled GOAT to make it trendy for Gandhi’s character. Vijay sir took some days before finally approving the title,” he said.
