Apple may be the best at making phones, but it's certainly not the best at tweeting. The tech giant's Twitter handle accidentally leaked the announcement of the iPhone 7 ahead of time. Just as the launch began, Apple tweeted-"The new water-resistant iPhone 7. Learn more at apple.com/iPhone 7." The first tweet was sent out at 6.01 pm, just after the event had kicked off, but before the iPhone had actually been unveiled on stage by Tim Cook. It was followed by a series of promoted tweets that revealed the new iPhone 7 features. The tweet also linked to a website that had not yet been set live.

In August this year, Union Minister Piyush Goyal tweeted the government's achievement of illuminating 50,000 km of Indian roads with LED lights. Except for one problem: the image used in the tweet was from Russia. The minister quickly deleted the tweet and responded – "Thanks to many who pointed issues with earlier image. While we illuminate streets, social media helps illuminate facts, helping us improve."

Anthony Noto, CFO, Twitter

The Twitter CFO slipped up and tweeted a message to all his followers that was supposed to be a direct message. In what appeared to be a hiring strategy, Noto's tweet read – "I still think we should buy them. He is on your schedule for Dec 15 or 16—we will need to sell him. I have a plan." The post deleted within minutes, but not before it was screengrabbed by some his savvy 8,700 followers.
