Reports circulating online suggest that the narrative draws inspiration from actual occurrences. As highlighted in coverage by The Economic Times, the incidents that form the basis of the plot are believed to have taken place in 1999 near the border separating Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh. Set against the backdrop of a remote village, the storyline revolves around a succession of horrifying midnight killings that send shockwaves through the community. What unsettles investigators even further is the striking similarity between each crime scene. The eerie resemblance among the sites leaves law enforcement puzzled, as the evidence fails to point toward any clear suspect or distinctive trail.
The mystery deepens with the revelation that the perpetrator follows a disturbing ritualistic method. Each victim is found missing sacred marital symbols, intensifying both suspicion and dread among villagers. As fear steadily spreads, the narrative introduces a newly transferred police officer who assumes charge of the troubling case. His arrival marks a turning point in the investigation, as he begins to sense that the crimes may be rooted in a calculated ceremonial pattern rather than random violence. Much of the drama unfolds under the cover of darkness, amplifying the suspenseful mood. With every passing episode, additional layers of secrecy and hidden motives gradually surface, keeping audiences engaged.
Thadayam is scheduled to stream exclusively on ZEE5 from February 27, 2026, in its original Tamil language. The platform shared the update through its official social media channels, accompanied by the series trailer.
