The streaming platform ZEE5 has officially confirmed that Thadayam will premiere on February 27, 2026. The announcement was made on social media along with the trailer launch. The post read, “The investigation Begins... Samuthirakani's 1st ever web-series #Thadayam Premieres on 27th Feb On ZEE5!”
As of now, the series will stream in its original Tamil version from the release date. Updates about other language options are expected later. Subscribers will be able to watch it directly on ZEE5 once it goes live.
Story Inspired by True Events
Written and directed by Navinkumar Palanivel, Thadayam is said to be inspired by real incidents that reportedly took place along the Tamil Nadu–Andhra Pradesh border in 1999. The story revolves around a string of brutal midnight murders in rural villages. Each crime scene looks similar, and the police are left confused because the clues do not clearly point anywhere. There is one chilling pattern though. The killer takes only the sacred symbols of marriage from the victims. This detail slowly turns fear into rumor, and rumor into belief. As panic spreads across the villages, a newly transferred police officer begins to sense that the crimes may have a ritualistic pattern behind them. The investigation unfolds mostly at night, and the tension builds gradually as more layers come out.
The recently released trailer shows glimpses of how the murders disturb everyday life. In one scene, a milkman discovers something shocking during his early morning rounds. At the police station, SI Athiyamaan, who is initially seen as careless, is actually sharp and observant. The killer leaves behind a question mark written in blood, raising doubts about whether it is meant for the victims or the police.
