Directed by Aanand L. Rai, Tere Ishk Mein presents a layered narrative that looks at love, emotional trauma, and obsession. Dhanush plays Shankar Gurukkal, a college student known for his aggressive behaviour and unresolved emotional pain. Kriti Sanon appears as Mukti Behniwaal, a research scholar who approaches Shankar as part of her academic work on non-violent behavioural reform. What begins as a research-driven interaction gradually turns into an intense emotional bond. As Shankar becomes deeply attached, Mukti’s academic experiment reaches its conclusion, leaving him shattered when he learns the truth. The situation worsens as Mukti moves on with her life, while Shankar struggles to cope with abandonment and betrayal.
Years later, the story takes another turn when the two cross paths again, forcing them to confront unresolved emotions, past decisions, and the long-term consequences of their earlier relationship.
