Tennis meets Bollywood: Ranveer Singh, Stan Smith may meet in Mumbai

The man who jumped over the net after winning Wimbledon will make a flying visit to Mumbai today. Stan Smith, the 1972 Wimbledon champ and sneaker icon, will arrive in the city in the afternoon for a promotional visit and take off almost as soon as his duties are done.

On the agenda for the 69-year-old is a press conference where he will talk about his tennis career and his association with a shoe that has made him famous across generations and turned him into a fashion symbol, something he never aimed to become.

Dave Thomas, MD of the brand's India operations, and the actor Ranveer Singh will also participate in Smith's visit. The hyperactive Ranveer may not know much about tennis but will enjoy leaping over the net, like Smith did after defeating Ilie Nastase on Centre Court all those years ago.
