The pandemic may have forced us to stay at home but that isn’t stopping techies worldwide from splurging a little on their Christmas presents this year.
A recent eBay survey found that techies made 40 million purchases per month during the holidays. Categories like video games and consoles, mobile phones and accessories, computer and laptops and consumer electronics observed the highest demand while demand for vintage electronics, smartphones and video game accessories spiked by 69 per cent, 62 per cent and 60 per cent respectively.
eBay also revealed that techie shoppers spent 12 mins per shopping visit and 29 days on average to make a purchase. Some of the top keywords they searched for during the holidays were Nintendo Switch, Chromebook, PS5, Apple watch band, Bluetooth speaker and Roku.
One-click buy The e-commerce platform also observed that techies preferred to shop online this year. 79 per cent of techies said they would do more of their holiday shopping online as compared to the previous years. 83 per cent agreed that product discovery is easier online as compared to physical stores.
