A technology professional's journey from a ₹3.5 lakh annual salary to ₹65 lakh in four years highlights the power of persistence. Graduating in 2021, he initially lacked focus but a realization of his family's financial struggles fueled his ambiti...

Humble Beginnings in 2021
The professional explained that he graduated in 2021 from a relatively small private engineering college. His entry into the corporate world happened through a mass campus recruitment drive conducted by a multinational company. Interestingly, he admitted that he had not put much effort into preparing for the opportunity and was selected without serious preparation.During the first few months of employment, he confessed that he lacked focus and motivation. Instead of dedicating himself to work responsibilities, he spent most of his time watching films and animated shows, treating the job casually.
A Moment of Realisation
Eventually, the realities of life forced him to reconsider his attitude. He came from a financially struggling lower-middle-class household where money problems were a constant concern. The family frequently faced monthly deficits ranging between ₹5,000 and ₹10,000. Meeting educational expenses and daily travel costs had always been a challenge. At that point, he realised that his salary of around ₹26,000 per month would never be enough to clear family debts while also covering interest payments. Since he was already working in the technology sector and had confidence in his logical thinking and mathematical ability, he decided to push himself further. Observing that many professionals in the industry earned significantly higher incomes convinced him that advancing in the field could help him achieve financial security and repay his family’s obligations.
Gradual Career Growth
His career began to move forward in 2022 when he switched to another multinational company with a salary package of ₹8 lakh annually. Instead of chasing frequent small salary increases, he chose a long-term strategy. His plan involved gaining three years of meaningful experience and then targeting high-profile product companies for advanced software engineering roles. In order to remain focused on this objective, he even declined some offers that promised moderate pay raises of 30–40 percent. In 2023 he received a substantial salary increase of about 45 percent. Although the workload was extremely demanding, he remained committed because he could see his family gradually paying off their debts. The following year brought another increase of roughly 28 percent. However, when his company began asking employees to return to office in Bengaluru, he decided to explore other opportunities.
Reaching a Major Milestone
By the middle of 2024, he moved to a new organisation offering a package of ₹19 lakh per year. For the first time in his life, his monthly earnings crossed the ₹1 lakh mark, a moment that filled him with pride. After completing three years of professional experience, he began preparing intensely for positions at top technology firms. He created a fresh coding practice account and dedicated himself to studying system design concepts, often sacrificing weekends and social activities. Although he initially stumbled in a few interviews, his persistence eventually paid off.
Soon, he began receiving offers from major companies, including ServiceNow, PayPal, and Cisco. Ultimately, he secured a position at a leading product company with an annual compensation of ₹65 lakh. The salary translated to more than ₹4 lakh per month—an income level that he said no one in his family had ever experienced before.
