Tech Challenge 5.0: When Capgemini played host to the online hackathon
This year’s edition put top programmers & tech professionals through an intense coding challenge in 10 distinctive skills.

Capgemini’s Hinjewadi campus in Pune hosted the fifth season of online hackathon Tech Challenge 5.0 last week. The hackathon aims to orient young techies with the skills needed in this age of digital disruption to solve real world business and human challenges using emerging technologies.
This year’s edition scouted for top programmers and tech professionals and put their grey matter to the test through an intense coding challenge in 10 distinctive skills such as Cloud Native, Azure, Adobe AEM, Embedded systems using C/C++, Hybris, SFDC, Data Science, Full Stack, SAILPOINT and PING Identity, among others. This year’s Tech Challenge saw a record-breaking 1,35,000 registrations across India, 40 per cent higher than last year. Of them, top 55 participants competed based on 10 skill sets and made it to the grand finale of the hackathon. Further, they were divided into 10 teams where they challenged each other in the ultimate tech battle to solve real-life problems on environment sustainability, better urban planning and waste management. Speaking on the occasion, Ashwin Yardi, chief industrialisation & automation officer and COO, Capgemini in India said, “Tech Challenge is a unique leveller that brings everyone from students and freshers to young professionals and senior professionals to the same platform.
This fosters team spirit and also recreates the actual delivery environment in which professionals work today. We truly believe that Tech Challenge has become one of the most popular engagement platforms that promotes innovation and connects tech enthusiasts from across India to exchange ideas and contribute positively to the future.”
This year, teams came up with innovative solutions and applied data science techniques, developed prototypes and solution architectures. The outstanding innovation by Team Juggernauts walked away with the top prize.
Team Juggernauts’ solut ion KUDAConnect , an end-to-end solution in waste collection and recycling, proposes an android platform that will connect all stakeholders such as government authorities, local agencies and citizens to create a seamless garbage disposal and waste management process. Adithya AN, Meetkumar Patel, Rajesh Kumar Sundaramurthy, Sandeep Kogge, Suvajit Majumdar and Tejaswini Khambe were part of the winning team.
