OnePlus began the first online-only event on Tuesday. The Chinese smartphone company said they are increasing their investment in developing premium, 5G-era devices.
Founder and CEO Pete Lau said that the company plans to stay heavily-invested in the technology. He also wished the fans to stay safe in such challenging times.

The OnePlus 8 also made a grand appearance 30 minutes into the live launch. With a 6.55-inch screen and 180 grams in weight, the device is light, curvy and thin.
In addition to Onyx Black and Glacial Green, the OnePlus 8 will be available in Interstellar Glow. It will come in two storage variants - 8GB + 128GB at $699 and 12GB + 256GB at $799.

OnePlus 8 Pro was one of the first devices to be launch at the event. It comes with 120 Hz QHD+ AMOLED Display, and silky-smooth, matte-frosted touch and increased haze levels. The device comes in three colour variants - Ultramarine Blue, Onyx Black and Glacier Green. It will come in two storage variants - 8GB + 128GB at $899 and 12GB + 256GB at $999.

The device also sports the first-ever quad-camera setup on a OnePlus phone. The company intentionally went for the punch-hole camera display to make the device feel lighter.

OnePlus claims to not compromise on image quality of 8 Pro. The device has a 48 MP main camera with a custom-made Sony IMX586 sensor. The 48 MP ultra-wide lens comes with a full 120-degree field of view. A telephoto lens with 3X lossless and 30X digital zoom and a unique colour filter camera.

In the last few weeks, Founder Pete Lau has been sharing teasers, several features and specifications of the new phones. He confirmed that the new devices will support 5G connectivity, super-fast Warp Charge 30 Wireless charger, and come with 120 Hz Fluid Display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 SoC chipset and LPDDR5 RAM.

The 44-year-old CEO also revealed that the new phones will be available in a new colour variant - Glacial Green — after having tested over 100 combinations of colour, material, finishing (CMF).
