On Thursday evening, Director SS Rajamouli's magnum opus impressed everyone when it bagged a whopping six awards at the 69th National Film Awards in New Delhi.
The winning categories include Best Music Direction (MM Keeravaani), Best Special Effects (V Srinivas Mohan), Best Choreography (Prem Rakshith), Best Action Direction/Stunt Choreography (King Soloman), Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment and Best Male Playback Singer (Kaala Bhairava)
'RRR' was the only film to win the most number of awards this year. The cast and crew of the movie have been in celebration mode ever since.
The moment the 'Baahulbali' director heard about the six awards, Rajamouli couldn't contain his joy and took to Twitter to cheer. "It’s a SIXERRR… Congratulations to the entire team of RRR on winning national awards. Thanks to the jury for the recognition."
Jr NTR, the leading man in the movie, also took a break from his busy schedule to celebrate the success of 'RRR'. He tweeted, "Congratulations to my colleagues of 'RRR' movie."
The actor lauded Kaala for breathing life into the 'Komuram Bheemudo' song with his voice. He praised Keeravaani for his brilliant background score. He also said Prem's award for the choreography was well-deserved. Jr NTR also praised Srinivas, Solomon and Rajamouli for creating a "monumental film."
'RRR', which stands for 'Rise Roar Revolt', had a mind-blowing box-office run and earned more than Rs 1,200 crore globally.
Set against the backdrop of the pre-independence era, the fictional period drama revolves around two freedom fighters, Alluri Sitarama Raju (played by Ram Charan) and Komaram Bheem (NTR Jr).
The film also features Bollywood actor Ajay Devgn in a pivotal role.
Internationally, the movie's peppy song 'Naatu Naatu' won an Oscar and Critics' Choice Awards for the Best Song. The song also bagged the Best Original song title from Hollywood Critics Association.
