Taylor Swift's mom diagnosed with cancer

LOS ANGELES: Pop star Taylor Swift has confirmed that her mother Andrea Swift has been diagnosed with cancer.

In a post on her Tumblr, Swift, 25, said she wants to keep "the details of her condition and treatment plans private," but urged fans to remind their parents to get some medical check-up for early diagnosis, reported Ace Showbiz.

"I'm saddened to tell you that my mom has been diagnosed with cancer. I'd like to keep the details of her condition and treatment plans private, but she wanted you to know," so read her post on Tumblr.

Since sharing the news, both Swift and her mother Andrea have received outpouring supports from both fans and celebrity friends, with the hashtag #PrayForMamaSwift has been trending for hours.

"#PrayForMamaSwift We love you Taylor, Austin, mama and daddy Swift," Swift's BFF Jaime King tweeted to her.

Meanwhile, Mindy Kaling wrote to Swift, "@taylorswift13 stay strong. Love to your Mom."
