However, the singer-actress did not take home a trophy. Her categories were announced at the Creative Arts Emmys, which were held on Saturday, September 5.

The Muppet Show ultimately won the trophy for Outstanding Variety Special, Pre-Recorded, beating Swift’s concert special along with fellow nominees Dave Chappelle: The Unstoppable…, Nikki Glaser: Good Girl and Wicked: One Wonderful Night. With Swift’s categories already decided at the Creative Arts ceremony, speculation has grown over whether she will attend the main Primetime Emmy Awards on September 14.

Why Taylor Swift may skip the Emmys

As per Eonline, The Eras Tour: The Final Show was competing for Outstanding Variety Special, Pre-Recorded at the annual television awards ceremony. However, Swift will not be present at Peacock Theatre on September 14 because her category will not be televised. That makes a Taylor Swift appearance at the Primetime Emmys seem increasingly unlikely, particularly after the categories connected to her nomination were already announced at the Creative Arts Emmys.

But there is another event that could give Swift a much more personal reason to be elsewhere.

Travis Kelce’s NFL game

As per reports by Cosmopolitan, Travis Kelce is playing his very first game of the NFL season. Kelce and the Kansas City Chiefs are facing the Denver Broncos, and the game is taking place at his home venue. That means Swift is very likely to be in the stands supporting Kelce rather than making an appearance at the Emmys.

The timing has naturally added another layer to speculation around Swift’s plans. While the singer has been a fixture at several of Kelce’s games, an NFL home game for the Kansas City Chiefs could make supporting her husband a more likely choice.

Swift has been nominated for an Emmy only once before her latest nominations. In 2015, she won Outstanding Creative Achievement in Interactive Media for AMEX Unstaged: Taylor Swift Experience. After the Creative Arts Emmys results and the scheduling of Kelce’s NFL game, the question surrounding September 14 is no longer simply whether Swift could attend the Emmys.
