Unlike older brother Rishad, Wipro chairman Azim Premji’s younger son Tariq has largely been in the shadows, until now. He was recently appointed as a board member of Wipro Enterprises. Fiercely private, just like his father and brother, here are three things you probably didn’t know about the second son:
- While he has just been added to the top fold of Wipro Enterprises, Tariq had been on the board of two philanthropic arms of the empire — the Azim Premji Philanthropic Initiatives and Azim Premji Foundation.

- Unlike brother Rishad, who has two Ivy League degrees hanging on his wall, Tariq is a commerce graduate from St Joseph’s College in Bengaluru, his home city. In fact, he worked at a BPO after his graduation for a while, before joining PremjiInvest.
- The ponytail-sporting Tariq and Nandini, the daughter of art collector Kavita and industrialist Jasjit Singh, were engaged in 2015, which was called off a few months later.
