Reminiscent of 2008’s ‘Om Shanti Om’ and ‘Saawariya’’s clash at the BO, was the clash between Ajay Devgn’s magnum opus ‘Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior’ and Deepika Padukone’s ‘Chhapaak’. It turns out, Devgn’s biographical period film has trumped Padukone’s drama by a huge margin.

Film critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh, shed some light on the box office collections of the two films.

‘Tanhaji’, in Taran’s words, had a ‘heroic’ weekend and ended up raking in Rs 61.75 cr.

The movie performed the best on Sunday when it collected Rs 26.08 cr.

‘Chhapaak’, on the other hand, garnered a collection of Rs 19.02 cr, which is Rs 40 cr short of ‘Tanhaji’s’ collection.

‘Tanhaji’s’ business is expected to grow over a period of time. It will be interesting to see if ‘Chhapaak’ will be able to catch up.
