Swedish Consul General Fredrika Ornbrant plans to visit Madurai during Christmas

It was a soiree to celebrate the 2014 Nobel Prize winners and the Swedish consulate pulled out all stops. Consul General Fredrika Ornbrant hosted a dinner at her home in Khar, prepared by renowned Swedish chef Magnus Albrektsson, for Swedish business leaders that operate out of India.

Over delicious rack of lamb with caulif lower, and cardamom infused pears, Ornbrant told us of her Christmas plans — a trip to Tamil Nadu. “We will first fly down to Madurai to look at the temples that I have heard so much about. Chettinad is next on our list; we will stay at a lovely heritage hotel with cooking classes. So we will learn how to make the region’s spicy food. Christmas Eve is in the French quarters in Pondicherry.” Why Tamil Nadu? “My family used to support a school outside Chennai in the 80s; my sister even worked there. My parents haven’t been there for 20 years so we thought it would be great to explore it again.”.
