In his tweet, Hooda emphasized the contrasting fates of two heroes from India's Independence Struggle—celebrated and overlooked. He hinted at rewriting history with the cinematic representation of Swatantrya Veer Savarkar's legendary tale.
"Two heroes of Indian Independence Struggle; One celebrated and One removed from History," he said on social media platform X.
The film promises a compelling journey, bringing to life the visionary and firebrand persona of Swatantrya Veer Savarkar. Alongside Hooda, the cast includes Ankita Lokhande and Amit Sial in pivotal roles. Zee Studios, Anand Pandit, Randeep Hooda, Sandeep Singh, and Yogesh Rahar collaborate as producers for "Swatantrya Veer Savarkar."
The film aims to provide a fresh perspective on the historical figure.
The teaser begins with Randeep walking within the prison confines, stating, "The struggle for freedom spanned 90 years, but only a few truly engaged in this battle. The rest were hungry for power."
Hooda is depicted undergoing torture in jail, and the teaser later reveals Savarkar as the figure who "inspired armed revolution" against the British and inspired other notable freedom fighters including Khudiram Bose and Subhash Chandra Bose.
Actor Randeep Hooda has said that Savarkar was always ahead of time and that today he has become more relevant than ever before. “It’s about time the country came to know about the contribution of the armed revolution in our freedom struggle. Mr Savarkar was always ahead of time and is today more relevant than ever before.”
