In an interview to Navika Kumar on Times Now, the TV actress said that Rajput was not depressed. However, she went on to add that his demeanour had changed in the past year and that 'his face reflected it'. The interview which was aired as part of the 'Frankly Speaking' show on Friday, saw Lokhande emphasise on the fact that Rajput wouldn't kill himself because of his career.
"I am sure there has to be a big reason behind this if it is a suicide," she added.
Shedding light on her 'Pavitra Rishta' co-star's demise, Lokhande revealed that she heard the news of Rajput's demise through a reporter who rang her up to know her reaction.
"The reporter just asked me, 'Ankita, did you know Sushant committed suicide?'. That was it, I couldn't think of anything more," she said.
Dismissing the claims made by Rajput's rumoured girlfriend, model-turned-actress, Rhea Chakraborty in her Supreme Court plea about Rajput's alleged depression, Lokhande said, "The Sushant I knew was full of life. He was an extremely bright person. He may get upset at times, but he won't get depressed."

"Obviously, a person can undergo changes, but his/her innate nature can't change. Sushant was an extremely balanced person," Lokhande who had shared a close relationship with the late actor during their TV days, added.
When asked if she knew Chakraborty, the telly star said that she didn't know her. "But I know Sushant and he is an emotional guy. I don't know about the financial transactions," she said.
Talking about the investigation by Mumbai Police, Lokhande raised her concerns as to why the police didn't contact his family.
