Sushant Singh Rajput's flatmate Siddharth Pithani arrested by NCB in drugs case, sent to 5-day custody
The arrest comes three weeks before Rajput's first death anniversary.

NCB arrests Sushant Singh Rajput’s flatmate Siddharth Pithani in drugs case
NEW DELHI: The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) on Friday arrested Sushant Singh Rajput's friend and flatmate Siddharth Pithani in a drugs case related to the actor's death in June 2020. News reports suggest that Pithani was arrested by the central agency's officials from Hyderabad, and has been sent to 5-day NCB custody after he was produced in the court on Friday.
The arrest comes three weeks before Rajput's first death anniversary. Following the actor's death by hanging on June 14 last year, Pithani had been questioned by several agencies including the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the Mumbai Police.
Pithani, who was Rajput's friend, was living with the late actor at his Bandra residence at the time of his passing. His alleged role in the drugs case came to light during the NCB's probe into Rajput's death, which led to his arrest, news agency PTI reported quoting an official.
A manhunt for Pithani, who was traced in Hyderbad, was launched by a team of the NCB, led by Mumbai Zonal Director Sameer Wankhede, PTI report further said.
The actor's sudden death sparked a nationwide uproar and is being investigated by other agencies apart from the NCB.
Ever since the anti-drugs agency initiated a probe into the drug angle to Rajput's death, several Bollywood celebrities have been questioned by the officials. The actor's girlfriend, Rhea Chakraborty was at the centre of the investigation and was also arrested by the NCB along with her brother Showik last year in the same drugs probe.
She was later granted bail by the Bombay High Court in October 2020 and released after spending a month in jail. Her brother was also released on bail.
