The family couldn't take the mortal remains of Sushant Singh Rajput to Patna due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
MUMBAI: The last rites of actor Sushant Singh Rajput were conducted on Monday in the presence of family members and close friends from the film and TV fraternity. The actor was cremated at Mumbai's Vile Parle crematorium around 4:30 pm in the afternoon.
Earlier on Monday, Rajput's father and a few other family members flew from Patna to reach Mumbai. The family had earlier wanted to conduct the last rites in Patna where Rajput had spent a considerable part of his childhood.
Mukesh Chhabra who has worked with Rajput in the yet-to-be-released remake of 'The Fault In Our Stars' was one of the first to reach the crematorium. The 'Kai Po Che!' star's colleagues from the industry including Shraddha Kapoor, Kriti Sanon attended the cremation. They were joined by a few others including his friend Rhea Chakraborty and Abhishek Kapoor who directed him in both 'Kai Po Che!' and 'Kedarnath' who bid farewell to the 34-year-old as it rained. Producer Ekta Kapoor who has paid tribute on social media, actors Vivek Oberoi, Randeep Hooda, Prateik Babbar and singer Udit Narayan were a few others who attended the cremation.
The actor's body was brought to the crematorium in Vile Parle from Cooper Hospital where the autopsy had been conducted earlier on Monday.
In the wake of the novel coronavirus pandemic and restrictions on large gatherings, only a few people were allowed inside the crematorium.

Meanwhile, the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) at Kalina, Mumbai will conduct a probe into the case of death by suicide of the actor and submit its report in 10 days, an official said on Monday.
A team of four officials from the FSL, run by the home department of Maharashtra, is in the process of collecting relevant items, including material used by Rajput to commit suicide, from his residence in suburban Bandra, the official told PTI on condition of anonymity.
The FSL will also conduct test on swabs of the 34-year -old actor who was found hanging at his residence on Sunday afternoon, he said.
The team will submit its report in 10 days, he said.
"Forensic tests will be conducted on items collected from Rajput's home to know if it was a case of suicide or homicide," the official said, adding the physics department of the lab will conduct the examination.

Known for films like "Kai Po Che!", "MS Dhoni: The Untold Story", "Chhichhore", Rajput was found hanging at his Bandra home, the police said on Sunday.
After the actor's death, police had said no note was found from his residence.
Policesources also said they did not suspect any foul play in their initial investigation.
