Super Bowl LIX: $59 cocktails and $36 nachos, why were the food prices so high in the big game?
Fans attending Super Bowl LIX in New Orleans were shocked by the exorbitant prices of food and drinks, with a cocktail costing $59 and dishes like grilled alligator sausage po'boys priced at $18. The high costs spurred online outrage, with many fe...

Super Bowl LIX, held at Caesars Superdome in New Orleans, saw the Kansas City Chiefs fall to the Philadelphia Eagles in a 40-22 defeat. While celebrities like Taylor Swift, Lady Gaga, Paul Rudd, and Anne Hathaway cheered from the stands, ordinary fans were left reeling from another unexpected blow: the sky-high cost of concessions.
A Cocktail Worth More Than Dinner
The most outrageous item on the menu was a cocktail named Voodoo Magic, which set customers back a staggering $59—a price tag more suited to a five-star dining experience than a stadium drink. The premium cocktail, made with Don Julio 1942, Grand Marnier Cuvée du Centenaire, lime juice, jalapeño syrup, and mango purée, came topped with a black magic seasoning garnish. But for fans already spending upwards of $6,500 to $23,000 on a ticket, this price felt like an extra slap in the face.
And if Voodoo Magic wasn’t their drink of choice, attendees could opt for a $40 blackberry lemonade cocktail—which, for that price, should have come with a VIP meet-and-greet.
It wasn’t just the drinks that had fans doing a double take. The food prices were just as eye-watering.
Outrage Online: “This Game Is for Celebrities, Not Fans”
As photos of the Super Bowl concession stand menu spread online, the internet erupted in disbelief.“This game is not for actual fans to attend, it’s for celebrities,” one person lamented.
Another joked: “Dare you to crowdfund for your alcohol intake tonight.”
With prices like these, a single meal and a couple of drinks could easily cost fans hundreds of dollars—on top of the thousands already spent just to be there.
While the Super Bowl remains one of the most coveted events in the world, the cost of food and drinks has left many questioning whether it’s an experience only the elite can truly afford.
