Sunil Munjal conferred with honorary doctorate
Munjal is seen as one of those industrial icons of the country who actively pushed for the acceleration of economic reforms.

Speaking on the occasion, Munjal said, "The reach of education in India is not enough and is not working to quality expectations. We have to hone in on the realities around us." Munjal spoke of the need to generate employment that can improve the lives of millions of Indians. "We need to generate some one million jobs every month for the next 15 years. We also know that there are 250 million people who do not get two meals a day. We have to make the effort to reach out. Forty one per cent of Indian economy is external. We must continue to strengthen the local economy so that India can go forward," he said.
A forward-looking thought leader, Munjal is seen as one of those industrial icons of the country who actively pushed for the acceleration of economic reforms. His interests go beyond business and he considers education to be one of his top priorities. Through the BML Educorp Services, a not-for-profit university initiative and the BML Munjal University, he has had an impact on education.
Professor Prabir Bagchi, vicechancellor of SRM University, said, "It is an honour for SRM University to confer the degree on such a multi-faceted personality who has contributed not only to Indian industry but also to the socio-economic development of the country as a whole."
Dr T R Paari Vendhar, founder chancellor of SRM Educational Group, presided over the convocation. "To students, personalities like Munjal are inspiring and motivating," he said.
