Sunil Chhetri humbled that his birthday will be celebrated as Football Day

The next time you’re hatching the perfect plan for a rainy football match with friends, you could mark August 3 as the perfect day. Why? It’s Indian captain Sunil Chhetri’s birthday, and will be celebrated as Football Day in Delhi.

This announcement was made by Delhi’s Football Association recently. Chhetri took the humble route in response to this honour.

“It’s always good to be recognised. But more importantly, I hope we can all contribute in spreading the game to various parts of the country,” he told ETPanache.
