Suniel Shetty drops truth bomb on why actors are silent over Operation Sindoor

Veteran actor Suniel Shetty, long known for his patriotic on-screen roles, is now making headlines for his off-screen candor. While many in Bollywood have chosen to remain silent on India’s recent Operation Sindoor—targeting Pakistan-based terror camps—Shetty has stepped forward with a bold take on why the silence exists. In an exclusive interview with India Today, the actor offered a rare glimpse into the cautious mindset of the film industry, and why he refuses to follow that path.

Why actors don't talk about Operation Sindoor?

While promoting his latest film Kesari Veer, Suniel Shetty opened up about why many actors in the industry choose to stay silent on national issues like Operation Sindoor. He believes that their hesitation doesn’t stem from fear of backlash or losing fan support, but from the worry that they’ll be perceived as politically inclined.

Shetty, however, made it clear that he has no political ambitions. His support for Operation Sindoor, which targeted terror camps, comes purely from his personal convictions and passion for the subject, something that also drew him to act in Kesari Veer. He emphasised that for him, patriotism and politics are two separate things. Unfortunately, in today's scenario, he feels that talking about the country often gets misinterpreted as aligning with the ruling party, a conflation he strongly disagrees with.

Currently, he is gearing up for Kesari Veer, an upcoming historical action drama set to hit theatres on May 23, 2025. Directed by Prince Dhiman and backed by Chauhan Studios, the film boasts an ensemble cast including Suniel Shetty, Vivek Oberoi, Sooraj Pancholi, and Akanksha Sharma. The movie is a cinematic tribute to India’s bravehearts.
