A viral social media video of a senior banker visiting a local branch has set tongues wagging in corporate circles. The welcome was hard to miss: dhols beating, employees lined up and enough enthusiasm to turn a routine inspection into something resembling a victory procession. Overzealous local hospitality, perhaps. Except the timing has lent the spectacle a more interesting beat. The banker and another senior executive are said to be jockeying for the next big job, with corridor chatter suggesting the two have been quietly trying to undercut each other. In a succession race that is getting increasingly noisy, the dhols have merely added to the soundtrack.
