If you are an aesthete who knows the Bombay Progressives weren’t a radical political outfit, then this weekend you would have been invited to the classiest soiree in midtown Manhattan at the Columbia Circle penthouse of the grande dame of our art frat, hobnobbing with the likes of the Rockefellers, Wall Street hedgies and former Christie’s executives. The New York outpost, the most ambitious project of this billionaire family, may still be some years away but it afforded a sneak peek into what’s in store later this summer at the prestigious Venice Biennale where an immersive MF Hussain experience is expected to enthral art lovers. That surely will be a fitting tribute to the maverick.
