BENGALURU: When Ramu Hampi, 28, a fancy store owner in Hospet taluk of Ballari district in north Karnataka, started making a two-minute video on farmers for a friend, he realized the various problems faced by them. Moved by what he saw, Ramu, a part-time actor, gathered his friends to give farmers a new hope and motivate them to fight all problems.

They made a 15-minute film, Raithana Kanasu (Farmer's Dream) to send home the message that suicide in not a solution. It has been shot with a "Moto E" mobile phone by Ramu and seven friends, who are new to acting.

The story unravels in a village of Hospet where a farmer sells his land to a private company to meet educational expenses of his younger brother. The farmer fights with the company to get a job for his brother.

The trailer has been viewed over 370 times on YouTube, while posts about it have generated over 4,000 likes on Facebook. "We will soon release the full version on social media," said Prakash Rathod, a team member.
