SUGAR Cosmetics CEO’s trick to keep her kids off-camera during a critical work call
Vineeta Singh is a mother of two toddlers, and says they can be loud.

“The biggest hiccup for most working parents is interruptions by little ones. As a company that has a lot of young parents, we try to normalise interruptions in internal calls and don't make it a big deal if there's loud wailing in the background, or a kid pops in to make faces at the camera,” said Vineeta Singh, CEO, SUGAR Cosmetics.
As a mother of two toddlers herself, Singh recognises that children wandering in the background are as much a part of working from home as video conference calls. To avoid disruptions when she’s on a critical work call, Singh tends to lock herself in one room to limit distractions.
“My sons are 2 and 5 and can be quite loud, so I got a second internet connection during the pandemic and made a makeshift desk in a room that's the farthest from their playroom. So, during critical calls I just lock myself up to avoid the distractions,” she said.
