Sharing a picture of Mrs. Murty, the entrepreneur gushed about how his illustrious mother had always excelled at whatever she did, be it being a parent, spouse, or philanthropist. “Mrs. Murty goes to Delhi (Parliament). During the time I have known her, my mother, Sudha Murty, has been a professor (of computer science), author, philanthropist, mother, and wife. And yesterday, at the age of 74, she just started a new career - as a member of the upper house of the Indian parliament. Here she is before she left home on her first day!”
In the photo, Mrs Murty looked chic in a light green saree with gold borders.

The post became viral on the job posting site, gaining almost 12,000 likes. Many netizens flooded the comment section praising Mrs Murthy and sharing anecdotes about her. One LinkedIn user recalled how he came across Murty, who was a fellow student at the Indian Institute Of Science. She used to stay at the library after hours studying and he admired her dedication to academics.
A former boss of Mrs Murty also spoke warmly about the spirit of perseverance and dedication. He described how, when she started her internship at Tata Motors, she would insist on wearing overalls and working in shifts like all others. “ She spoke her mind and demonstrated a deep commitment to whatever she took up! Along with former colleague Dr Satyamurty, she was part of the team that designed India’s first NC machine!! Great to see her in her new role!! I am sure she will make an impact and serve the wellbeing of all!!” he wrote.
On March 14, Sudha Murty was sworn in as a Rajya Sabha MP in the presence of her husband, Infosys founder N.R. Narayana Murthy. The oath was administered by Chairman Jagdeep Dhankar. Murty was nominated to the Upper House of Parliament on International Women's Day. She is a recipient of numerous awards, including the Padma Shri and Padma Bhushan.
Murty's daughter Akshata is married to Rishi Sunak, the Prime Minister of Great Britain.
