Su From So OTT release: Where to watch Kannada horror comedy movie after its blockbuster theatrical run

In what can only be called a true underdog story, Su From So, a Kannada horror-comedy, has taken the box office by storm. Made on a tiny budget of around Rs 4 crore and without any big stars, the film has not only surprised audiences but has also turned into one of the most profitable Indian films of the year. The film will soon make its debut on an OTT platform.

Written, directed, and headlined by JP Tuminadu, the film is set in a small coastal village in Karnataka. It follows Ashoka, a carefree young man whose life changes when villagers start believing he is possessed by the ghost of a woman named Sulochana. What starts as a light-hearted horror comedy slowly evolves into an emotional story packed with humour, social messages with a dash of emotions.


Interestingly, as per the reports, the script of Su From So went through 26 rewrites before filming began. Inspired by real incidents from the director’s own village, the film has been praised for its authentic storytelling and rooted characters. Critics and audiences alike have appreciated the film for its themes.

The movie hit theatres on July 25 with very little buzz and collected just Rs 78 lakh on its opening day. But thanks to positive reviews and strong word-of-mouth, the film saw massive growth in the following days. It ended its first week with Rs 20.15 crore net and currently stands at Rs 43 crore net in less than two weeks.

This unexpected success led to an increase in the number of shows across theatres, a rare thing in recent times. Reports suggest the film has delivered a return of over 1,000 per cent on its original investment.

Following its successful Kannada release, the film was dubbed in Malayalam and released in Kerala. Now, Su From So is all set to release in Telugu states on August 8, with Mythri Movie Makers handling distribution.

For those waiting to watch it at home, the film will soon reportedly stream on Amazon Prime Video. Produced by Raj B Shetty, Shashidhar Shetty Baroda, and Ravi Rai Kalasa under Lighter Buddha Films, the movie was distributed by Dulquer Salmaan’s Wayfarer Films in Kerala, Anil Thadani’s AA Films in North India, and Phars Film overseas.
