‘Stree 3’ major leak: Shraddha Kapoor’s character name revealed, fans buzzing with theories

One of the biggest mysteries in Bollywood’s horror-comedy universe has been Shraddha Kapoor’s character name in the Stree franchise. While Rajkummar Rao’s Vicky and his friends—Bittu, Jana, and Rudra—have been central to the plot, the identity of Shraddha’s character remained a well-guarded secret. However, a recent script leak circulating on social media seems to have finally answered the question.

Since the release of the first installment in 2018, fans have speculated about Shraddha’s role. In Stree 2, which hit the screens in 2024, it was revealed that she is the daughter of the vengeful spirit, Stree. However, her actual name was never disclosed to the audience. While she did whisper it to Vicky in a crucial moment, viewers were left in suspense. Now, a viral Reddit post claims that the script from the upcoming Stree 3 reveals her name as ‘Gayatri.’

Fans React to the Name Leak

The revelation has sparked debate among fans, with many questioning whether ‘Gayatri’ is truly her name. Some pointed out that Vicky’s shocked reaction in Stree 2 suggested a more unusual or unexpected name. One Reddit user commented, “It won't be revealed to be Gayatri in future movies (if they ever reveal it). They hinted that it's a weird name by Vicky's reaction.” Another noted, “But Gayatri was also the name of the prostitute in Stree 1. I’m confused now.”



Others believe that the name has a deeper meaning connected to the storyline. The name ‘Gayatri’ is often associated with spiritual guidance, which aligns with Shraddha’s character, who has guided Vicky in his battles against dark forces. Her pivotal role in the climax of Stree 2, where she called upon her mother to help defeat Sarkata, reinforces this theory.

What the Makers Say

Stree writer Niren Bhatt addressed the mystery in an interview with Zoom, stating, “Yes, we will explore the story of Shraddha Kapoor as Stree’s daughter, and that's why we didn't reveal her name. We are planning quite ahead but unfortunately, I won’t be able to reveal what’s cooking at Maddock Films.” He hinted that Shraddha’s character will play a more prominent role in future sequels and spin-offs.

Maddock Films has mapped out a multi-film horror universe, with several releases planned before Stree 3. The studio announced that Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna’s film Thama will arrive in Diwali 2025, followed by Shakti Shalini in December 2025. Varun Dhawan’s Bhediya 2 and Chamunda will release in 2026, leading up to Stree 3 in August 2027. The saga will culminate in the grand supernatural battles, Pehla Mahayudh and Doosara Mahayudh, in 2028.

While the authenticity of the leaked script remains uncertain, fans will have to wait until Stree 3 to see if ‘Gayatri’ is indeed Shraddha Kapoor’s character name. Until then, speculation continues to keep the mystery alive.
