More about Disclosure Day

The film follows a TV meteorologist, played by Emily Blunt, who becomes involved in a dangerous investigation after discovering information linked to extraterrestrial life. Josh O’Connor plays a disgraced cybersecurity analyst who joins her as they attempt to uncover the truth behind a secret government operation.

Their investigation soon turns into a chase as they come up against people determined to keep the information hidden. The two must stay ahead of a powerful corporate contractor while trying to reveal what has been kept secret from the public.

The streamer’s announcement also hints at a world where people in power have spent years making sure that the truth remains hidden. The film asks what happens when someone finally decides that the public deserves to know what has been kept from them.

Emily Blunt, Josh O’Connor lead the cast

Apart from Blunt and O’Connor, Disclosure Day features an ensemble cast that includes Colin Firth, Colman Domingo and Eve Hewson. The film combines the mystery surrounding extraterrestrial life with elements of a chase thriller.

Spielberg has also brought back frequent collaborator David Koepp for the project. Koepp wrote the screenplay, having previously worked with the filmmaker on major films such as Jurassic Park, The Lost World: Jurassic Park, War of the Worlds and Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.

Disclosure Day marks Spielberg’s return to science fiction after Ready Player One in 2018. The director has a long association with the genre, having made films such as E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, Close Encounters of the Third Kind and Minority Report.

The film also features a score by legendary composer John Williams, another longtime Spielberg collaborator.

Released on June 12, 2026, Disclosure Day earned around $241 million worldwide, according to Box Office Mojo. The film received mixed-to-positive reviews from critics and audiences.
