Steely grace: Sajjan Jindal hails rival Tata Steel to inspire students
It’s not often that a business honcho tips his hat to his biggest rival, that too before an auditorium full of bright, impressionable minds. Yet Sajjan Jindal, promoter of JSW Group, recently proved to be made of different metal… er, mettle.

Jindal spoke to a full house of school students at the Nehru Science Centre this week to inspire them towards a career in steelmaking. During his address, the head of India’s largest private steel producer took a page out of mining history.

Going back in time, Jindal gave the example of Tata Steel, India’s oldest and JSW Steel’s biggest rival in the country. The mining magnate told the students about how Tata Steel, founded more than a century back, was successful in making steel despite British scepticism and opposition. Just goes to show… to be the best, learn from the best.
