Standing with women! Google India MD Rajan Anandan is all for backing women-led startups

Google India MD Rajan Anandan is known just as much for his day job as he is for backing startups as an angel investor. And to his credit, his portfolio includes over 20 women-led startups.

In a recent interview, he set aside concerns that prospective investors looking at women-led startups may have. He gave the example of the ladies of his house to make a point.

“What are they worried about? That the founder is going to have a baby and not be as committed? My wife Radhika Chopra and my mother became even better entrepreneurs after having children,” he said.

A former financial analyst in New York, Chopra launched her own brand that retails artisanal teas a couple of years ago. Apart from her entrepreneur cred, she is popular for being a discerning art collector. Where her husband backs women-led startups, Chopra favours female artists. This wasn’t by design though, just a happy accident.
