SRK turns 54: Thousands of fans wait outside 'Mannat'; K-Jo pens heart-warming note, Mamata proud to have him as WB brand ambassador

Social media was flooded with birthday wishes for the actor.

The 'Baadshah' of Bollywood turned a year older on Saturday, and as is tradition the actor's fans from across the country crowded his Bandra bungalow, 'Mannat', to get a glimpse of the star.

Despite heavy rain in the Maximum City, hordes of fans waited to wish the 'Don' star who turns 54 today.

Not one to disappoint, Khan made an appearance in a black sweatshirt paired with blue jeans at his balcony, greeting fans, waved and blowing kisses at them.



Immense love for the actor didn't just pour in from fans, but his industry colleagues as well.

Film-maker and Khan's BFF, Karan Johar took to social media to thank him for being there for his mother and children, and being his dad's best friend.

Shared some candid throwback photos with SRK, Johar wrote, "Happy birthday Bhai... Am not sure words are the best way to describe certain relationships... Especially those that have such powerful silences... You have always been such a tremendous influence in my life! Like the best preacher teacher, I have had the honour of calling my family... My journey with you will always be the best phase of my career and life and there is still so much more to come... Thank you for being you... Thank you for always being there for mom and me and now our little ones... Thank you for being my father's best friend and my older brother for life!!! I love you more than you will ever know."


Kajol and hubby Ajay Devgn too wished Khan. The actress shared a picture with him, alongside the caption, "Happy happy birthday to my sweet friend. To many more smiles like this ! Have a wonderful day."


Devgn wished SRK a 'wonderful year ahead'.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, too, took to Twitter to wish the 54-year-old, who is the brand ambassador of the State.

Wishing him good health and success, Banerjee said she was proud to have him as the brand ambassador, adding that she looked forward to seeing him at the 25th Kolkata International Film Festival, which commences on November 8.

Posting a picture with Khan, actor Anil Kapoor tweeted, "From meeting you for the 1st time on the set of Benam Badshah in 1990, to now, almost 2020, you haven't changed a bit! The power in your eyes, the swagger, confidence, humour, warmth, kindness & your love for my family! Keep inspiring the world my friend! Happy Birthday,

Describing himself as Khan's 'jabra fan aur #SRKian', actor Ayushmann Khurrana, wrote, Happy bday Shah sir

Preity Zinta, who has appeared in several films with the actor including 'Dil Se' and 'Kal Ho Naa Ho', shared an adorable picture with Khan, saying she always learns something new from him.


Raveena Tandon shared pictures with SRK, wishing him on his birthday.



Not just Bollywood, the sports fraternity too wished King Khan.

Master blaster Sachin Tendulkar described Khan as someone who is as charming on-screen as he is in person.


While Krunal Pandya shared a picture featuring Khan with him and Hardik, Harbhajan Singh called him the 'King of Romance'.



Badminton ace Saina Nehwal also wished Khan on Twitter.


American DJ Marshmello too posted a picture with King Khan.

And now, American talk-show host David Letterman is the latest addition to this list. Appearing on Letterman’s talk show, ‘My Next Guest Needs No Introduction’, SRK was quick to win him over.

Having stayed away from the screen since his last outing, ‘Zero’, SRK’s appearance on the show was termed by many as his ‘Diwali release’.

Not that SRK’s wit and humour needs validation, but every now and then, the man hosts a Twitter QnA called #AskSRK where he answers questions asked by his fans. Just another opportunity for die-hard SRK fans get a glimpse of just how funny the megastar is.

In a recent #AskSRK session, hosted a day before he dropped the trailer of his appearance on Letterman’s show, the ‘Don’ star was asked by a fan, “I want to bite your lips, can I? #asksrk”

Adding some humour to the comment, Khan responded, “No I haven’t brushed my teeth yet.”

Khan’s production house Red Chillies Entertainment tied up with Netflix India to produce a number of original series with ‘Bard of Blood’ - starring Emraan Hashmi, Shobhita Dhulipala and Kirti Kulhari - being the first one.

After a sabbatical of 11 months, Khan is reportedly set to return to the big screen with Tamil director Atlee.
