Spring Season 2021: Google welcomes the first day of springtime with an adorable doodle of floral hedgehog

Google on Saturday welcomed the season of spring with a soothing floral animation. Spring 2021 begins on March 20, and ends on June 21 in Northern Hemisphere.

The animation by Google shows an adorable hedgehog donning several colourful flowers and vibrant leaves, walking along cheerfully. The hedgehog is surrounded by buzzing bees that light up the whole vibe.

With a cute doodle, Google celebrated the first day of the spring, known as Spring Equinox, when the day and night are equal in length.


What is spring equinox?
On this day, the sun passes the equator moving from the southern to the northern hemisphere. This happens when the sun is directly in line with the equator. This day marks the beginning of spring in the North as daytime continues to get longer until the summer season.

The word 'equinox' comes from Latin terms 'aequus' (equal) and nox (night), which means that the duration of the day and night are equal, i.e 12 hours each.

The spring season falls right in between the winter and summer, making it perfect time to hit the road and get some vitamin D. People get to enjoy a few months of breezy days before scorching summer hits the weather.
