Arijit Singh, Tanishk Bagchi and Neha Kakkar continue to dominate the most streamed artists space this year.
2020 has been a year that challenged the grit, determination and the patience of the global population. With a global pandemic wreaking havoc on public health and economy and most of the people locked up indoors, music emerged as their saviour.
To rewind the year in music, Spotify India has come up with Wrapped 2020 which gives an idea about the music Indians listened to, this year. While 2020 has been a challenging, music has remained constant which is why some of the most popular tracks have managed to maintain their positions.
Arijit Singh takes the top spot, BTS at #4.
Arijit Singh, Tanishk Bagchi and Neha Kakkar continue to dominate the most streamed artists space this year. Arijit Singh’s 'Shayad' is the most streamed song followed by Trevor Daniel’s 'Falling'. 'Ghungroo' bagged the third position with 'Tujhe Kitna Chahne Lage' taking the fourth spot.
Making history and emerging as the only international act in the top 5 artists list is the South-Korean band BTS. BTS’s 'Map of the Soul: 7' is also the third most streamed album among Spotify listeners in India. Justin Bieber’s 'Changes' also ranked fifth among the most-streamed albums on Spotify.
Spotify also listed out the top five most streamed female artists in India. It includes only local names featuring Neha Kakkar, Shreya Ghoshal, Asees Kaur, Tulsi Kumar, and Dhvani Bhanushali.

Podcast genres that are most popular among Indians include education, lifestyle and health, society and culture, arts and entertainment, business and technology. Coming to podcasts, TED Talks Daily, The Ranveer Show, and On Purpose with Jay Shetty became the most streamed podcasts in India. When it comes to global ranks, Bad Bunny, Drake, J Balvin, Juice WRLD and The Weeknd are the most streamed artists on Spotify.
Spotify plans to introduce more features soon including its personalised listener Wrapped and Creator Wrapped experiences.

When in doubt, belt it out. That’s what actor Idris Elba (in pic), 47, did when he and his wife Sabrina Dhowre (30) tested positive for Covid-19. Elba said he didn’t have many of the common symptoms, and made the most of his time in isolation by getting his creative juices flowing. He shared a music track that he created while in quarantine on his social media account.
Titled ‘The Long Road 2’, the song starts with Elba discussing self-isolation. He said that creating the song was music therapy to him. “Creating is living right now,” he said.
