PTI, on Wednesday, quoted Woodlands Hospital MD and CEO Dr Rupali Basu as saying, "Mr Ganguly is clinically fit. He slept well and had his meal. He wanted to stay in the hospital for one more day. So he will go home tomorrow. It is his personal decision."
Noted cardiologist Dr Devi Shetty had flown to Kolkata to join the team of doctors attending to Ganguly, who has been diagnosed with 'Triple vessel disease'. The cricketer may have to undergo a second angioplasty, but doctors said that could be performed at a "later stage."
Shetty had, on Tuesday after meeting with a team of 13 doctors at Woodlands Hospital, called Ganguly an "asset" to the nation, and said that the mild heart attack did not cause any damage to his health.
He added that the batting legend can return to normal, as "his heart is as strong as it used to be when he was 20 years old", and "this event will certainly not have any impact on his life in the future. He will be leading a normal life. It will not affect his lifespan."
