Soori's Maaman OTT release date locked: When and where to watch the Tamil family drama

After winning hearts in theatres with its emotional storytelling and relatable family drama, Maaman is now heading to OTT. Starring Soori and Aishwarya Lekshmi in lead roles, the film struck a chord with audiences when it hit screens on May 16, 2025. Now, fans who missed it on the big screen can catch it from the comfort of their homes — the film is set to premiere on ZEE5 on August 8, 2025. Soori himself had earlier confirmed that ZEE Network had secured both satellite and digital rights for the film.

Directed by Prasanth Pandiyaraj and produced by K. Kumar under Lark Studios, Maaman is a heartfelt family drama that explores love, loyalty, misunderstandings, and the delicate balance between personal and family responsibilities. The story was penned by Soori, who also takes centre stage in the film alongside a strong supporting cast that includes Rajkiran, Swasika, Bala Saravanan, Baba Bhaskar, Viji Chandrasekhar, Nikhila Sankar, and Geetha Kailasam. According to Sacnilk, the film earned Rs 41.15 crore worldwide, despite receiving mixed critical reviews.

Plot of Maaman

Set in Trichy, Maaman follows Inba, a devoted brother, whose life revolves around his sister Girija and her son, Laddu. When Girija finally conceives after years of emotional abuse from her in-laws, Inba becomes a father figure to Laddu, drawing admiration from Rekha, Girija’s doctor. Love blossoms between Inba and Rekha, but their marriage soon faces hurdles as Laddu’s growing attachment causes tension. Rekha struggles to find space in Inba’s tightly knit family, leading to emotional clashes and misunderstandings. As responsibilities, relationships, and priorities collide, the story explores how love, loyalty, and family ties can both heal and hurt. With emotionally charged moments and deeply relatable characters, Maaman delivers a stirring tale of conflict, connection, and the challenge of choosing between the ones you love and the life you dream of.
