Sony launches Xperia XZ2 and XZ2 compact smartphones; says exploring opportunities around 5G

The new smartphones will help Sony compete against the likes of Samsung and Apple.
The flagship smartphone is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 845, 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage (with microSD slot). The device also supports gigabit data speeds.

The 5 inch XZ2 smartphone is also powered by a Snapdragon 845 processor.
Both smartphones feature High Dynamic Range (HDR) displays, and are dust and water resistant with IP65 and IP68 certifications.
The Xperia XZ2 boasts of a 3D glass surface that makes it look appealing and comfortable in hand.
The Sony Xperia XZ2 is the world’s first smartphone to support 4K HDR videos with a new 19MP Motion Eye camera. The new camera supports ISO levels of 12,800 and 960 fps Super slow motion video. The compact version of the Xperia XZ2 features the same camera.
The company is also making efforts in the 5G space to explore various opportunities with ecosystem partnerss

Sony has confirmed the Xperia XZ2 and XZ2 Compact will be available globally from March 2018 and both will ship with Android 8.0 Oreo.
"Sony is a lead partner of Qualcomm on 5G technology," Amon added.
