Sonu Nigam on Azaan row: I stand by my statement
After the backlash Sonu Nigam received following his tweets about 'forced religiousness', the singer has clarified his statement saying that his statements were not against any religion but usage of loudspeakers.

After a series of replies to those questioning or supporting his view, he tweeted, "Dear everyone. Your stand exposes your own IQ. I stand by my statement that loudspeakers should not be allowed in Mosques & Temples. Period."

A day before, Sonu Nigam waded into trolling waters after he let loose a volley of four tweets about his annoyance at being woken up by azaan (the Islamic call to prayer) and termed the use of loudspeakers as "forced religiousness" and "gundagardi". He went on to clarify that he is also against the use of loudspeakers in temples and was a noise issue rather than a religious one.
