The entire nation woke up to a huge mayhem as the sale of meat got banned in Mumbai during their four-day long Jain festival. The decision by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), on Monday, put a complete ban on the slaughter of animals during the Jain fasting festival from September 10 to September 17.

Not only Mumbaikars, even Twittearti flooded the micro-blogging site with anti 'meat ban' posts, giving the issue a religious angle.

Known for her outspoken attitude, Sonam Kapoor also stood against the meat ban and tweeted against it.

However, the diva was bombarded with negative tweets as several Twitter followers objected to her use of the word 'misogynistic' by cracking jokes about her fascination for brands and fashion. The diva wasted no time in giving it back to her haters by tweeting:
