Sonakshi Sinha gets into action mode with ‘Akira’

NEW DELHI: It’s been a quiet year for Sonakshi Sinha at the box-office. But come September, and the actress is all set to be seen in a different role in ' Akira'.

Going by the teaser which was released on Monday, this promises to be an action flick with the ‘ Dabangg’ star in the lead role. Directed by AR Murugadoss of ‘Holiday’ fame, it also stars director Anurag Kashyap as a corrupt police officer and Konkona Sen Sharma.

Unveiling the film’s poster, Sonakshi tweeted, "She will fight back. No one will be forgiven! Here's the 1st poster of #Akira & more good news: #AkiraTrailerOnJuly4".

This is Sonakshi’s second outing with Murugadoss who had directed her in the box-office hit ‘Holiday’ where she was cast opposite Akshay Kumar. ‘Akira’ is supposedly loosely inspired by the Tamil film ‘Mouna Guru’.

The 2:30 minute-long trailer traces Sonakshi’s journey from Jodhpur to Mumbai and her fight with college bullies, certainly a shift from her ‘Dabangg’ and ‘Lootera’ characters. The actress reportedly trained hard at martial arts for her role.

‘Akira’ hits the screen on September 2.
