Sona Mohapatra receives threats from Sufi foundation, reaches out to Mumbai Police

In a series of tweets, the singer described the mail, and urged Mumbai police to take action.

Bollywood singer Sona Mohapatra on Monday said that she had received a threat e-mail. The singer alleged that the mail was purportedly sent by the Madiyar Sufi Foundation, asking her to remove one of her music videos from all platforms.

In a series of tweets, the singer described the e-mail, and urged the Mumbai Police to take action.

The foundation, which works to popularise Sufi culture, had objected against the music and content of her video 'Tori Surat'. The foundation claimed that it did not comply with the Sufi format.

Mohapatra, who has raised other issues on social media in the past, hit out at the foundation for its stand on the portrayal of women in the video.

The 41-year-old artist filed a formal police complaint at the Santacruz Police Station.
