Sofía Vergara’s Los Angeles home has received plenty of attention for its Mediterranean-inspired interiors, expansive outdoor spaces and collection of distinctive antiques. The actor-producer opened the doors of her Beverly Park mansion to Architectural Digest in 2024, revealing how she transformed a house she once compared to a “castle in Transylvania” into a warm and inviting retreat. The sprawling property combines European-inspired architecture with art, vintage pieces and spaces designed for entertaining friends and family.

A sprawling Beverly Park mansion

The Modern Family actress and her then-husband Joe Manganiello purchased their Beverly Park mansion for $26 million in 2020, according to Architectural Digest, citing Variety. The Tuscan-style property measures about 17,000 square feet and has six bedrooms and 10 bathrooms. Before the couple acquired it, the home belonged to former San Francisco Giants outfielder Barry Bonds, who had substantially remodelled and expanded the property.

As per Galerie Magazine, the hall has a spiral staircase. The lavish property also houses a full-size fitness studio, cinema, home office, and wine room and reportedly 11 baths. The high-end Californian estate also has a pool court, a built-in spa, al fresco dining space and outdoor barbecue for a perfect gathering.

Sofía Vergara transformed the interiors

When Vergara acquired the property, she felt the existing architecture needed a major change. In her Architectural Digest home tour, she recalled that the abundance of arches and columns made the house resemble a castle in Transylvania. At the same time, she liked the layout and the fact that the landscape could be seen from virtually every room. Her goal was to make the large property feel more personal and comfortable rather than overly formal.

The living room brings together several of the design elements that define the house. Architectural Digest features an antique Italian chandelier, a Tabriz rug from Mehraban, a resin planter from Inner Gardens and custom seating covered in Pierre Frey linen. An 18th-century French limestone fireplace adds another European touch. The room also features a Fernando Botero sculpture, reflecting Vergara's interest in the Colombian artist. Architectural Digest's 2024 home feature identifies the artwork as being from Fernando Botero and Gary Nader.

As per Harper's Bazaar Australia, the house opens with a two-storeyed foyer which leads upto a curved staircase with a black hand rail, premium furnishings and spacious living and dining areas. The house also has full-sized gym, a theatre and a wine room. Her ultra-premium house also boasts of a chef's kitchen, and a sprawling backyard.

Vergara's Architectural Digest tour offered a closer look at how personal choices shaped the mansion. From the Botero artwork to antique furniture and European architectural details, the interiors reflect her preference for spaces with character rather than a purely modern luxury aesthetic.

Her Los Angeles home ultimately became a blend of Mediterranean influences, art and antiques, while retaining the scale and amenities of a sprawling Beverly Park estate.
