Samantha Ruth Prabhu and Sobhita Dhulipala with Naga Chaitanya
Actress Sobhita Dhulipala has recently found herself at the center of controversy after being accused by netizens of 'copying' Samantha Ruth Prabhu’s outfit in a Vogue photoshoot. The claims surfaced when eagle-eyed social media users noticed similarities between Sobhita’s dress in the magazine shoot and an outfit worn by Samantha earlier. This led to a barrage of online criticism, with some users directly calling out the actress in the comments section.

Reacting to Sobhita’s pictures, one user commented, "You copied Samantha's dress also." Another wrote, "This look is Samantha's recent look right?" While some directly accused her of imitating Samantha’s fashion choices, others went as far as calling her "shameless."

The Truth Behind the Outfit Controversy

Despite the uproar, a closer inspection of the outfits reveals distinct differences. Sobhita’s ensemble, a sheer, fringed high-low slip dress from the AKHL Solaris SS25 collection, features a see-through mesh bodice with intricate fringe detailing transitioning from silver to pastel pink and blue. Meanwhile, Samantha had worn a different dress from the brand Moonray earlier in 2025. Her outfit was an ombré fringe dress with a structured bodice and a contrasting green waistband.

At first glance, the two outfits appear similar due to their fringed detailing and ethereal aesthetic. However, upon closer examination, differences in fabric, design elements, and color tones become evident. Despite this, the allegations persisted, with many social media users linking the controversy to Sobhita’s relationship with Naga Chaitanya, Samantha’s ex-husband.

Naga Chaitanya and Sobhita’s Relationship Under Scrutiny

The trolling escalated as critics linked the fashion controversy to Sobhita’s marriage with Naga Chaitanya. The couple tied the knot in December 2024 in an intimate ceremony at Annapurna Studios in Hyderabad. Naga Chaitanya was previously married to Samantha, and their relationship had been widely adored by fans before ending in divorce in 2021.

The emotional attachment of fans to Naga Chaitanya and Samantha’s past relationship seemed to fuel the backlash against Sobhita. Some users even pointed out that Naga Chaitanya’s engagement date with Sobhita coincided with the date Samantha had proposed to him in 2017, further intensifying the criticism.

Naga Chaitanya on His Past with Samantha

In a candid discussion on the podcast Raw Talks with VK, Naga Chaitanya addressed his divorce from Samantha, stating, "It was for the betterment of whoever was involved in the marriage... Whatever the decision was, it was a very conscious decision after much thought and with a lot of respect for the other person." Acknowledging the sensitivity of the situation, he added, "I'm saying this because it's a very sensitive topic for me. I come from a broken family. I'm a child from a broken family, so I know what the experience is like."

Despite their separation, Samantha and Naga Chaitanya’s love story remains etched in the public’s memory. The two had met on the sets of Ye Maaya Chesave in 2010, dated for five years, and married in 2017 before parting ways in 2021. Their relationship’s lasting impact has made it difficult for some fans to accept Naga Chaitanya moving on with Sobhita.
