Snapdeal CEO contracts Omicron, hints his symptoms aren't mild

E-commerce platform Snapdeal co-founder and CEO Kunal Bahl confirmed on Monday night that he had contracted the Omicron variant of the coronavirus.

Without getting into details, the e-commerce boss posted on Twitter that he tested positive.



Earlier on Sunday, he took to the microblogging site to share his views about Omicron amid the rising number of cases. In his tweet, he said that only lucky people experience mild symptoms of the new variant.

"The lucky ones may be those who get mild Omicron," his post read.

Prayers and good wishes poured in for Bahl on the social media platform.

NASSCOM President Debjani Ghosh recommended resting up for a 'super speedy recovery'.

Vishal Gondal, CEO of GOQii, wrote, "Take care, bhai (brother)."

Earlier this month, Bahl expressed concerns about the rising number of Covid hospitalisations of children, quoting a Bloomberg report.

The 38-year-old is father to two toddlers - a 7-year-old daughter and a four-year-old son.

The Delhi-based entrepreneur has been updating his over 280K followers on Twitter about the rising Omicron cases in the city.

As the rate of positive cases kept growing, Delhi hoped to not see a rise in hospitalisations.

"Please don't get mistaken by small absolute day-on-day increases in Covid positivity rates in Delhi over the last 5 days," he wrote.

Last month, Snapdeal - which has become quite popular in small-town India - spent nearly Rs 161 crore on employee benefits in the fiscal year 2021, revealing its IPO draft papers.

Bahl, who was appointed as executive director, was set to get a fixed compensation of Rs 3.5 crore, along with a performance bonus of Rs 1.5 crore. He is entitled to receive the remuneration for a three-year period, from April 1, 2021, to March 31, 2024.
